Abstract

Despite the attempts of many studies, research on the effect of enterprise education, especially the relationship between enterprise education and startup mindset, still shows conflicting results and does not clarify the relationship. This study empirically verifies the impact of enterprise education in universities on the willingness to start a business among university students who are potential entrepreneurs and to reveal new factors that moderate the relationship between enterprise education and startup mindset. To validate the research model of this study, the questionnaires of 265 undergraduate science and engineering students from Bolgatanga Technical University and C. K. Tedam University of Technology & Applied Sciences were analyzed using independent sample t-test and hierarchical regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed that students who took enterprise education had higher startup mindset. The significant moderating effects of innovativeness, risk-taking, and proactiveness among entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial family environment among environmental factors were confirmed, indicating that the higher the innovativeness and proactiveness, the greater the influence of enterprise education on startup mindset, while the higher the risk-taking, and the presence of entrepreneurial family environment, the less the influence of enterprise education on startup mindset.
